legal hunting guns
first time hunting with handgun want to know what kind of gun legal in ind that would reach out to 150 , 200 y?

Thank you for quick response maybe yards to far how about a solid 100 yd knock down is T/C 15 inch 500 legal in Indiana

It’s the T/C Encore people!!! NOT the contender. The contender frame is set up to handle rounds up to about .30-30 pressure levels. Maybe a bit more. But not much. .308 or .270 will blow it apart. They built the Encore to handle the full-sized rifle rounds. If you want a handgun that can reach that far using a rifle cartridge, look at an encore set up. If you prefer less recoil, you could go with a contender. 7TCU or 7-30 Waters are powerful enough to knock over a 60 pound steel ram target at 200 yards. And both are well within the specs of a contender. But whichever one you go with, get reloading data for that specific cartridge in a pistol barrel. You can use regular rounds in them, but you will get more out of the gun if you can find load data that was set up to work in a shorter barrel. Medium and slow burning powders like those used in factory loaded rifle cartridges won’t have time to burn completely in the bore. So you end up with lots of noise, a huge muzzle flash, and not nearly as much velocity as you would like. Get a good reloading manual, and go for it. Also, don’t skimp on the optics. Shooting accurately at that range with a pistol is hard enough. Get a good extended eye relief scope so that you can see where you are shooting. Open sights are fine for shooting games like silhouette shooting. But when you are going after game for real, you owe it to the critter to make the kill as quick as possible. Shot placement is everything. Good luck.

Concealed carry is legal while hunting in CA
